The introduction of the new PES 2014 graphics engine, the Fox Engine, was met with high expectations from fans of the football series. Despite a rocky start, it seems that the developers have made enough improvements to satisfy even the most discerning players. The game still maintains the high level of gaming quality seen in previous entries that have rivaled FIFA. Upon playing the game, players will immediately notice the significant changes brought by the new engine. Many have praised these changes for evoking memories of PES's heyday on previous consoles when it was the top football simulation game in the market. However, there are still areas that need improvement, such as the absence of certain features like rain effects. While Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 retains most of the licenses from the previous game, some notable casualties like faithfully recreated stadiums have been replaced by other appealing additions such as the inclusion of the Brazilian league.
